'Hôtel Hennes'
6 May 2022 2 mins 30s
Throwing the rule book out the window.
by Lateefah Jones

H&M cleverly illustrates that they have fashionable solutions for every occasion of Spring/ Summer 2022, whether it’s for the beach, holiday, day or night (partay) time. The movie-style scene is set to the sound of Baccara’s “Yes Sir, I Can Boogie” with the opening titles featuring quotes from the critics such as “This Season’s Best Looks!”

An apprehensive guest arrives at the quirky Hotel Hennes clutching a book named 'The Rules of Fashion' which is swiftly discarded by Gigi Hadid. The rule flouting and celebration of the unconventional is quickly established and repeated throughout the 150" commercial.

From the poses struck in the lift, to the dancing porters and the cleaner chatting on the phone whilst lounging on a bed, you get the sense that anything goes at Hotel Hennes. The cat walk on the beach with an array of different models, each distinctly different in clothing, look and style, further adds to that sense of individualism. That its okay to wear what you like, to be unique, to be different, to be yourself.

It's a little too long but it has fun and fresh summery vibes in abundance and will no doubt appeal to young fashion-savvy consumers.
