To highlight their support of HBCUs, Cricket Wireless have created this uplifting 98” film. HBCU is the widely used acronym that stands for Historically Black Colleges and Universities, whose main mission was and is the education of Black Americans. The ad’s vision is entrusted to Ewurakwa Dawson-Amoah whose signature blend of poetic narration and powerful visuals are used to good effect. Although mainly upbeat, acknowledgement is given to the challenges and barriers which must be overcome by many Black Americans in their respective fields, “We are the born breakers of glass ceilings.” The film clearly sets out to be a celebration of the triumphs of Black Americans in every endeavour: as musicians, artists, athletes, scientists, and academics.
