Few of us are proud of the looks or attitude of our teenage selves, and Beyond Meat tap into that feeling in a funny new campaign. This series of ads depicts people confronted with their younger incarnations, none of whom are impressed by the plant-based diets their older selves have adopted. From screaming emos to posturing jocks, each young version of the characters is well cast and similar enough to their older selves for the joke to land effectively. A bemused mother introducing her baby to her juvenile clone makes for a particularly amusing moment. It's an attention grabbing way to encourage people to move with the times and adopt a more planet-friendly style of eating - a controlled application of shame in a gentle way. Many will cringe internally at a teenager exploding that "nobody understands us!", but the relatable second-hand embarrassment is bound to get audience cogs turning.
