A blue rabbit breastfeeding a small boy is one of many unusual sights in this animated promo for Aldous Harding. Dressed only in his underwear, the boy embarks on a whimsical odyssey that sees him connect with nature in surprising ways—not least via a leporine teat. He transforms into a turtle, gets caught by a grizzly bear in fisherman's clothes, and even watches a frog shoot down a blimp with a crossbow. It's a strange and even dangerous world to explore, but it beats doodling at the kitchen table on his own. Speaking of sketches, Chris McD's hand-drawn animation brims with personality as the boy surfs on both a train and a sewing needle. Coupled with Harding's folksy sound, it's an artful escape that also feels grounded and personal (the New Zealander's favourite artist, Neil Young, gets a namecheck).
