In the best way possible, we can only hope the BBC’s newest telethon - The Big Night In - is a one-off. The event coincides with growing uncertainty over the length of the coronavirus lockdown, which is a problem not even Lenny Henry can solve. One can’t fault Henry’s enthusiasm as he conducts this 50” promo-slash-video call, however, which urges viewers to forget about the pandemic for a few hours and enjoy some light entertainment instead. Easier said than done, perhaps. There’s still plenty for viewers to enjoy in this teaser, as director Chris Cottam and his cast - including David Tennant, Davina McCall, and Romesh Ranganathan - evoke the chaos of a group Zoom* call…. something many of us are now all too familiar with. *Other video-conferencing apps are available.
