When the story comes out in the wash
by Alice May

This utterly captivating little film is a really inventive way to demonstrate the power of Persil. An illustrator paints images onto 340 school shirts which, sped up, form a motion-picture story. However, these are no artist's paints. The colours he uses are made from the things that stain our clothes and which tend to be a pain to wash out.

Over and over again he paints a shirt, washes a shirt, paints some more. Each time the shirts come out pristine and dazzling.

It's a film which has appeal for everyone: parents who despair of keeping their school-age offspring spotless, tots who are fascinated by the animation, and creative kiddies who fancy creating clothes-based animations of their own.

As long as Persil keeps up its end of the bargain, this charming tale could inspire some of the next generation's budding film makers.
