I missed you.
by Andrew MacGregor

According to this YouTube TV commercial, spectators have been missing big moments since the Stone Age. Sure enough, a caveman's view is blocked by tall-ass tribespeople—a boulder kick fan's worst nightmare.

How about the Roman who gets knocked to the floor by an errant flail? Or the medieval nobleman blinded by a flag at a jousting tournament? Even the modern miracle that is the car radio lets a baseball nut down in his station wagon.

Best of all is the bloke who watches a hockey match in a bar, only for someone to turn over the channel at the worst possible moment. Who knew that ten-pin bowling fans were such stone-cold bastards?

Wires are the last enemy of the sports fan, but the advertised streaming service are confident that the war is over. Rather than hook up multiple televisions like a square-eyed lunatic, YouTube TV subscribers can watch up to four, count 'em, four events at once on the same screen. What a time to be alive.
