Ukraine sings. | |

One year on, Russia's invasion of Ukraine still defies belief. As the world reflects on twelve months of open conflict, the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) mark the occasion with a singalong of sorts. Don't worry, it's not a repeat of 'Imagine' by Gal Gadot and chums. Instead, it's a rendition of 'You’ll Never Walk Alone', with the lyrics spoken by Ukranians on the frontline. It's a far cry from Anfield or the West End stage: here, the song is accompanied by destroyed buildings, crowded hospital wards, and bomb shelters. If these backgrounds represent humanity at its worst, then the resilient cast represent humanity at its best. The advertised charity also pay tribute to the UK public, who've raised over £400 million for the relief effort. Even the most despondent Liverpool fans will take comfort in that.
