The Super Bowl cleans up

Tide has come up with a wonderful parody of all those dubious images of Jesus seen in burnt toast or cloud formations. When a 49ers fan drops a sauce-covered chip on his pristine footie top, he and his fellow fan discover the stain looks like legendary quarterback Joe Montana.

As 'Montana stain fever' sweeps the nation, hordes make Lourdes-style pilgrimages to his home, buying 'stains on a stick' and replica T-shirts; creating a merchandising industry that leads to huge wealth for our sauce-dribbling fan. However, that's not the end of the story.

His wife is a Ravens fan... and, irked by the reverence in which the original top is held, she goes at it with the advertised product... with inevitable results. The only jarring note comes when she disingenuously protests that "it had a stain on it" - as if she hadn't noticed that the framed top was the source of their new-found affluence.
