Olympian-turned-filmmaker Savanah Leaf has agreed to join Academy Films for representation in the UK and Europe.
After representing Team GB at London 2012, Leaf stepped behind the camera and hasn't looked back. She now joins Academy with a plethora of music videos, short films, and commercials under her belt.
It's already been a productive 2019 for the Londoner, with Leaf's most recent promo - a new take on Marvin Gaye's politically-charged single ‘What's Going On?' - dropping in September. Filmed throughout the United States, it gave Leaf the chance to show how relevant Gaye's message is today.
This year also saw Leaf collaborate with Texas-born musician Gary Clark Jr. on ‘This Land' - a Southern-fried tirade against America's racist landscape. Shifting between a balcony performance, a roaring fire, and a cast of wandering children, Leaf crafts a balmy visual accompaniment to Clark Jr.'s ire.
As her list of collaborators grows, so does her ambition - reflected by the sophistication of her short documentary 'The 4th Wave', which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Whether trap music is your bag or not, Leaf's initimate portrait of Italian artist Priestess rewards inquisitive viewers.
