The move follows the release of thirtytwo's punchy effort for Screwfix, with the brand eager to show they cater for more than just white van men. Equipped with a diverse cast and Mozart’s 'Requiem', the two deliver a superb demonstration of the relationship between skilled workers and their tools.
2016 saw them profile another consummate professional, this time for cinema advertising company Pearl & Dean. While the likes of Clint Eastwood and John Wayne unloaded their six-shooters, someone had to train the tumbleweeds. In the style of a newsreel unearthed from the archives, the film pays tribute to Tinseltown's best tumbleweed wrangler - an "enigma" with the driest job on set. Between shots of 'Duel of Desire' in production, we see the trainer do what she does best: coercing, befriending, and disciplining wild tumbleweeds.
If 'Tumbleweed Trainer' depicts someone at the height of powers, then thirtytwo's work for the Department of Education captures a protagonist coming into her own. A girl's progress through the education system captivates from start to finish, as she navigates lessons, detention, and GSCEs. Cinematic and measured, it's a charming piece of work which may entice potential educators into the fold. What's more, it proves that working with Southern and Lovelace is the educated choice.
