Ukrainian filmmaker and jiu-jitsu blue belt Daniel Liakh has joined Sticker Studios for commercial representation. If the name rings a bell, that's because Liakh directed a provocative ad for the Come Back Alive charity just weeks after Russia invaded his homeland.

The film stars comedian Ahir Shah as the representative of the International Office of Thoughts and Prayers, who tells callers that Ukraine has more than enough best wishes in the bank. What they need is actual money to buy essential supplies, so Liakh satirises the hollow activism that defines the social media age.


So what drives Liakh to make work like this? "I think that the funniest things in life exist side by side with the most tragic ones. Perhaps it's because of where I come from, perhaps it's because I spent quite a lot of time on my own growing up. This might also be why I make films."

Sticker Studios hope he does just that for as long as possible, with Harleymoon Kemp and co. eager to see more work like this Stamma commercial. The film may not prevent "billionaires flying into space in giant metal penises", but it does awareness about the dearth of stuttering voices on television, radio, and film.
