Actor, writer, and director Diane Morgan has joined Moxie Pictures for commercial representation. Whether you know her as Mandy Carter (Mandy), Philomena Cunk (Cunk on Earth), or Liz (Motherland), Morgan is BBC Two royalty.
Her ascent makes Dawn Laren, Moxie's managing director, extra proud: "We first worked with Diane thirteen years ago as an actor and I have been a huge fan ever since. So I couldn't have been more excited when she made the inevitable move to directing and am thrilled that she has joined the Moxie family."
Morgan made her directorial debut in 2019 with Mandy, a comedy short about a woman who'll do whatever it takes to procure a sofa. Two series later (and with a third one on the way), the show is a testament to Morgan's directing, writing, and acting skills.
Guest appearances from the likes of Shaun Ryder, Deborah Meaden and Brian Cox ("Professor Cox? Sounds like a porn name") also demonstrate her ability to coax memorable performances from non-actors. It will be fascinating to see how Morgan's deadpan flair translates to the commercial realm.
