MOTHER'S CRAIG AINSLEY BECOMES FRANK ATLANTIC AND JOINS ARTS & SCIENCES
28 February 2023

By becoming a director at Arts & Sciences after spending time in the creative department at Mother, Craig Ainsley is joining illustrious company. Kim Gehrig, Sacred Egg, The Bobbsey Twins from Homicide, Raine Anne Miller, and Humans have all set off successfully down this path, and as he adopts the name 'Frank Atlantic' for his directorial adventure, Ainsly will be hoping to emulate them.

Ainsley's former colleagues at Mother are rooting for him. CCO Felix Richter at the London agency says: "Craig is a brilliant creative and wonderful human, and I couldn’t be more excited about him stretching his creativity into a new dimension. I’m sure it won’t be long before we get to work together again on a delicious script. He will always be part of the Mother family."

It was clear that we’d eventually bring it full circle, and he would sign up to direct with us at Arts & Sciences.

 ”

Ainsley has already tested himself across a number of different disciplines... as well as a top notch career as a creative at Anomaly as well as Mother, he has written gags for BBC comedy 'Have I Got News For You?' and, more pertinently, has directed a number of short films, which have consistently collected Vimeo Staff Picks.

They include an eviscerating look at agency culture, with Robert Bathurst nailing the weary arrogance of a creative head offering withering condescension to a guileless colleague played by Rachel Stubbings, with Alistair Green running interference.

Ainsley firm handling of established comedy talent performing a script he co-wrote demonstrates a confidence that belies his relative inexperience. This is a director who clearly knows what he's doing.

Send me your most delicious scripts.

 ”

Arts & Sciences managing director James Bland is unequivocal in his assessment of his new signing: "Having worked with him many times as a Creative Director, we began making short films together, with Craig directing his own scripts. It was clear that we’d eventually bring it full circle, and he would sign up to direct with us at Arts & Sciences. To finally be doing this together is brilliant. Craig’s unique voice and wry humour come through in everything he does, and we are thrilled to get the chance to make films together again."

While Ainsley himself has a simple message for those occupying the role he has relinquished: "Hello. Send me your most delicious scripts."
