DIRECTORS OF PHOTOGRAPHY Are you one of the best twenty-five cinematographers working in advertising? You are? Then you should be on this list.
Director Robert Wilkins loves a good logo, which is one of the reasons he's joined PRETTYBIRD UK. If there is something "more luminous and vital than a clawed PRETTYBIRD", the Chris Packham of branding is yet to spot it through his binoculars.
Whether up close or at a distance, Wilkins has followed his new home with interest: "I've watched PRETTYBIRD go up and up over my eight short years in advertising and they attract exactly the kind of scripts that I want to be directing. It's an exciting time for me to be joining the team."
He's already shot two commercials with PRETTYBIRD, including a spot for Campaign Against Living Miserably. The charity's latest 'Invisible Opponent' film captures England and West Ham midfielder Declan Rice in moments of despair and reflection before he's offered a hand out of the mire.
"PRETTYBIRD saw the value in my charity job for CALM and jumped at the chance to make it with me," Wilkins says. "They are super cool and smart as everyone knows, and I've massively enjoyed the experience of working with the whole London team."
The feeling's mutual for executive producer Ted Thornton: "I'm thrilled Robert has joined us. We all recognised the importance of getting behind the CALM project and the calibre of the work. Robert's reel is outstanding and this seemed like a good opportunity to see how we could work together and we're delighted with the results."
Asif Kapadia, director of 'Senna', 'Amy', and 'Diego Maradona', changes tack with 'Creature', a film based on the English National Ballet production of the same name.
Jinx Godfrey, whose credits include 'Chernobyl', 'The Princess', and 'The Theory of Everything', is available for commercials again at Marshall Street Editors.
