New York filmmaker Omar Jones has joined the Nursery of Evil at Riff Raff Films. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, Jones studied at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania next to the Pocono Mountains. One of his first gigs was camera operator at a local charity auction.
When he returned to New York, Jones added visual effects and editing to his repertoire. As his skills and ambition increased, so did the interest of local rap artists who took a chance on homegrown talent. When Riff Raff Films caught wind of Jones, they knew he was perfect for their Nursery of Evil roster.
They call Jones an "introspective thinker who constructs memorable visuals that capture and accentuate the heart of each subject". Furthermore, his "broad voice and vision let him create and tell stories within a wide range of genres" across music videos and commercials.
It will be interesting to see what form Jones's Riff Raff debut takes. In the meantime, check out this textured Adidas commercial that takes viewers on a whistle-stop tour of New York with DJ Odalys Peña. A whole day at Little Cupcake Bakeshop would have suited DAVID just fine.
