KATE DAWKINS STUDIO IS FOUNDER MEMBER OF NEW FLIPT VENTURE
23 August 2022
It's barely six months since FLIPT started trading, and they're already opening a new division on the back of adding Kate Dawkins Studio to their roster. The new entity is called FLIPT/side and is described as "a place for moving image makers that work across different platforms".
Kate Dawkins Studio is a double BAFTA-winning studio that has innovated in this space by telling epic stories on unusual canvases, including large-scale LED and projection environments. Kate has been involved in a number of high-profile events including the giant 360° 'audience pixels' for the London Olympic ceremonies.
Brands such as Adidas, Jaguar Land Rover and Talisker have recognised the potential of this medium, and it has also attracted the attention of Elton John and the MTV Music Awards.
The Festival of Remembrance piece at the Royal Albert Hall won a BAFTA for Kate Dawkins Studio, as did World War I remembered: Passchendaele at Ypres, which involved projecting stunning imagery onto the formidable Cloth Hall building, something that was both a creative and technical challenge.
Trent Simpson – co-founder of FLIPT - expressed his delight at the company's new acquisition: “It is a privilege to have Kate Dawkins Studio come on board at FLIPT. KDS excels at innovative storytelling whether it be the use of projections to transform buildings into huge canvases or creating spectacular content for brands. I am thrilled that their unique voice is now something we can shout about.”
