FAMILIA FIRST FOR ANIMALS AND WILL INNES SMITH.
29 August 2018

Familia have bolstered their commercial ranks with the signings of directing duo ANIMALS and culture fiend Will Innes Smith.

As his latest recruits settle into their Shoreditch digs, Familia Executive Producer Toby Walsham says: "These two signings make for a more diverse roster of talent. The work of ANIMALS has a dynamic edge which makes them particularly suited to commercials involving fast-moving sports, [while] Will Innes Smith… has a particularly good footing for commercial storytelling."

Let's have a look at the company's new talent individually…

1. ANIMALS

Comprised of filmmakers Tobias Bonfanti and David Bertschinger Karg, ANIMALS divide their team between London and Zurich while collaborating on a variety of TVCs, music promos, and short form documentaries.

While such pursuits are a full-time exercise, the pair aim to combine work and play wherever possible. For example, Bertschinger Karg's sideline as a professional snowboarder gave ANIMALS the opportunity to hit the slopes and capture both natural and sporting mastery.

2. Will Innes Smith

Will Innes Smith is always on the lookout for new and distinctive techniques when he tackles a project. Whether it's through CG animation or eye-catching production design, Innes Smith welcomes the chance to enrich whatever brief he's working on.

Naturally, such moxie has brought Innes Smith to the attention of various high-profile brands, including Sony and Sky Sports. This piece for the latter underlines his knack for VFX-heavy work as a group of budding cricketers achieve Test status.
