While his work is inspired by the human body and its breadth of movement, it would be shortsighted to assume Laudat's work is limited to dance-focused narratives. Rather, he has built a diverse reel of crisply-rendered projects across a variety of media, including lifestyle ads and glossy music promos for major artists.
His promo for Nothing But Thieves' track 'Is Everybody Going Crazy?', for example, embraces the song's crunchy quality and channels a Nineties vibe. Minimalist and swirling, the film creates a dreamlike state which enhances the potential madness at play.
After grinding his way to the top ("I typed London production companies into Google, got all their addresses, printed off my CV and went to every one I could. I just chased around," he explains), it's no wonder his talent for telling impactful stories and appreciation for beauty in all its forms has led Laudat to Academy's door.
