SALT N' SAUCE SPICE UP THE SCOTTISH PRODUCTION SCENE
7 February 2023

At a launch party in Leith last Thursday, Filming Scotland unveiled Salt n' Sauce - their dedicated creative production arm. Executive Producer Fraser Jamieson, who divides his time between Edinburgh and London, will run the new outfit alongside Managing Director Dave Neilson.

Both Jamieson and Neilson are determined to find and nurture a new generation of Scottish filmmakers, and Salt n' Sauce's roster is replete with young up-and-comers, as well as more experienced directors.

Fraser Jamieson's enthusiasm spills over as he begins describing the confident skills of the young autodidacts he's found so far, and he cannot wait to help develop their careers by supporting their filmic endeavours, as well as attaching them to commercial projects.

The advertising market in Scotland has had its ups and downs over the years, but - at its best - it has always sought to challenge the idea that London has a monopoly on ambition in the advertising industry.

Jamieson and Neilson are realistic about the current landscape in Scotland when it comes to creative production with obvious curbs associated with the limited scale of a relatively small industry. But through the success of Filming Scotland, Dave Neilson - together with his wife Nomi - has already demonstrated that it's possible to build an ambitious film-making business in Scotland.

Ambitious projects like Salt n' Sauce renew our excitement about the way this industry can provide opportunities to talented young people, and how, with the backing of mentors like Jamieson and Neilson, potential can be converted into meaningful success.

DAVID will be cheering loudly from the sidelines as we follow the progress of this fantastic new offering.
