One of the Brighton native's recent highlights is this ad for Irish meat brand Denny, which charts a man's first steps to grandparenthood. When the baby takes centre stage at home, the bloke does his best to be helpful, but everything's already under control. He knows it as well, hence the gentle smile when someone says, "That's grand". Just when it looks like he's on the bench for good, he plays a blinder in the kitchen with a round of ham and cheese toasties. It's a selfless act, and his reward is a baby in his arms while mum eats. The way he introduces himself to his grandchild is well played, and shows that Christie cares about his characters.
Compassion also drives this brilliant commercial for Breast Cancer Now, a charity who aim to prevent all deaths from the disease by 2050. This inspires a young girl to build a time machine in her bedroom—taking her ailing mum by the hand, we realise there isn't a moment to lose. Mother and daughter share a tender moment as they will the time machine into life, their innocent fantasy bathed in a comforting glow by Christie. Coupled with endearing production design that blends reality and science fiction, it's a strong calling card for FLIPT's new arrival. Whatever comes next should be worth a gander.
