RIFF RIFF FILMS WELCOME SMITH & FOULKES.
2 November 2022

Highly decorated animation duo Smith & Foulkes have completed a move to Riff Raff Films. Over twenty-five years after meeting at the Royal College of Art, Alan Smith and Adam Foulkes still get a kick out of 2D and 3D animation, as well as the odd burst of live action, and Riff Raff are sure to benefit in every possible way from their vast experience, extraordinary ability, and collegiate approach.

Their reel has won them plenty of admirers, not least Riff Raff's Matthew Fone: "Like most people I have loved Adam and Alan's work for a long time, from their Oscar-nominated short film This Way Up to their BAFTA-winning Winter Olympics ad for the BBC. The list doesn't start and end there though, so when they wanted to chat I was intrigued."

Fone adds: "For me they have the same DNA as Riff Raff—one built around ideas and narrative, then crafting the style that best suits the story. Still not sure which one is which, but everyone here is excited to welcome them into the Riff Raff family."

Need a refresher course in Smith & Foulkes? Then check out the duo's masterful plug for the BBC's 2018 Winter Olympics coverage. Fear meets its match in this 90" film, as wolves, tentacles, and giant eyes try to thwart their prey, only to be outpaced by medal hopefuls at every turn.
