ARTS & SCIENCES OPEN LONDON OFFICE
3 December 2020

The renowned US production company Arts & Sciences recently opened a London wing of their enterprise, and underlined the seriousness of their intent by inviting James Bland to run it.

The prospect of the Arts & Sciences roster being available to UK agencies under the shrewd stewardship of one of the advertising industry's most capable executive producers provides a much-needed boost as we near the end of this most challenging of years.

Plainly, launching in the middle of a global pandemic is less than ideal, but it speaks volumes for James Bland's indomitable spirit that he wasn't the least daunted by this. Instead, he is focused entirely on the opportunities ahead: "We are opening with a very refined and focused proposition; extremely talented directors that are committed to the market and want to collaborate with agencies on the best creative work."

Bland's enthusiasm is justified. Arts & Sciences has a relatively small roster by modern standards, but at DAVID we've always felt that talent is best measured qualitatively rather than quantitatively.

Director and co-founder Matt Aselton has a dazzling showreel and his availability alone means that the opening of Arts & Sciences London is an exciting proposition. The fact that he is one of nine directors on the US roster makes it likely that this enterprise will hit the ground running.

Aselton's co-founder Mal Ward says of the initiative: "We’ve had our eye on London for a while and we wanted to do this in a very specific and thoughtful way. Fortunately for us, James Bland was willing to partner with some ambitious and somewhat idealistic Americans."

Idealistic Americans are back in vogue after the results of the presidential election so we look forward to seeing the work yielded by this winning combination.
