Filmmaker Louis Hollis - who has just been signed by Nice Shirt Films - loves a night on the tiles. After all, filming stag/hen nights, drunken revellers, and kebab shop patrons gave the London-based director his big break.
Hollis’s short documentary ‘Saturday Night and Sunday Morning’ was commissioned by BBC Three in 2015. Like many of his contemporaries, Hollis shot and edited his early work single-handedly, resulting in a vivid, non-judgemental snapshot of UK nightlife.
Since then, Hollis has been hard at work on his feature length debut, commercials for the likes of Tesla, and documentaries covering events like the Royal Shrovetide Football in Ashbourne, Derbyshire - all of which makes Nice Shirt Films excited.
Their executive producer-slash-managing director Richard Martin says: “I don’t think I’ve ever been as gripped by a new director’s reel as I was by Louis’s. His documentary instincts are superb - he can smell a story a mile away and knows how to keep out of the way just enough to let it unfold.”
