 It's the work, stupid.

JOHN O'HAGAN HEADS FOR 2AM.
9 July 2018

2AM Films have signed director John O'Hagan to their roster for commercial representation.

O'Hagan began shooting movies at the age of twenty and subsequently studied film in New York, where he worked under the likes of Todd Haynes, Spike Lee, and David Byrne. Since then, his short film and documentary work has been shown at festivals all over the world and won numerous accolades... and that's before we get to his commercial reel.

O'Hagan is renowned for his comic touch with branded content and TVCs - indeed, his work was described as "laugh out loud" funny by 2AM's MD Nick Crabb... in a statement which included more emojis than DAVID can comfortably replicate here.

Needless to say, this talent for comedy and unifying approach to storytelling have led O'Hagan to produce some memorable work over the years - his 'Cat Herders' Super Bowl commercial for EDS being one such example.

O'Hagan's ability to infuse the everyday with a sense of the surreal has led him to direct commercials for brands worldwide, and he's been awarded countless times for his strong visuals, humorous storytelling, and diverse directing skills.

I’ve always thought it best to allow that inspiring idea at the centre of any story to drive every decision that follows.

 ”

These qualities can be seen in another one of O'Hagan's surreal works - this Australian Sprite spot. A bloke heads to a blind date, unaware that he's been set up with his childhood teacher. Luckily, there's a speedo-clad bodyguard on the way to help soothe the burn of this unexpected turn of events...

Such work stems from O'Hagen's belief that it's "best to allow that inspiring idea at the centre of any story to drive every decision that follows." Naturally, 2AM support this mantra.

Take a look at John O'Hagan's reel over at 2AM, then get in touch with Nick Crabb at nick@2AM.co.uk or on 020 7292 9600 for more details.
