SOUNDS OF THE SEA.
20 April 2018

Havas London have partnered with Sharp's Brewery to launch ‘Keynvor' - a musical venture designed to help keep Cornwall's Atlantic coast in good nick.

With the help of Universal Music label Mercury KX, the campaign has already produced its first ‘single' to promote marine conservation.

'Keynvor'? You need to brush up on your Cornish. ‘Keynvor' (pronounced cain-vor) loosely translates as ‘the ocean', while the project itself consists of Argentine composer Sebastian Plano and a suite of maritime recordings.

Crashing waves and ocean spray were captured by a hardy band of sound recordists. Classically-trained Plano then took these field recordings and crafted his own experimental sea shanty, ‘Preservation'.

What's it in aid of? The Cornish brewery wish to protect what's on their doorstep. A quick glance at their beer selection - Atlantic Pale Ale, Sea Fury, Doom Bar (named after a perilous sand bank) - says a lot about their coastal obsession, which Havas were to keen to harness.

We’re proud to have created an innovative, permanent platform that both celebrates and supports the coast, not just now but in the future.

 ”

Havas Creative Director, Matt Swinburne, says: "It's no secret the UK's coastline is under threat. This is something Sharp's cares passionately about - so we're proud to have created an innovative, permanent platform that both celebrates and supports the coast, not just now but in the future.

So where can I listen to it? Click here to listen via Spotify - the track is also available on Apple Music, iTunes, and Google Play. Repeat listens are encouraged, as all streaming and download income goes to marine conservation charity Surfers Against Sewage.
