PRODCO LAUNCHES GLOBALLY. |
|
12 September 2023 |
|
It's a measure of the chaotic ingenuity of Ian Pons Jewell and Zico Judge that they've only just got round to formally launching ProdCo, the film production company they've already been running for the best part of a year. The duo have, in all likelihood, been too busy making the company a success to find time to tell the world about it. |
That changed yesterday with a press release which reveals the fledgling company now has offices in both London and Los Angeles. Attached is a photo (by Darius Khondji) which appears to suggest the duo have undergone a cosmic beard swap to generate publicity for ProdCo. Not included in the photo, but very much the third musketeer is Jon Adams, who, as well as being Ian Pons Jewell's long-time producer, provides the thumping heartbeat of ProdCo. |
“ |
The energies, the skill level, the shared vision of our directors and team, it’s magical. |
” |
|
As might be expected, Ian and Zico have cued up high- powered personnel to run things on both sides of the Atlantic. In Los Angeles, Emma Wilcockson, formerly of MJZ in the States, takes on the role of Managing Director, while her equivalent in London will be Katie Keith who was previously part of the leadership team at Rattling Stick and, more recently, has been taking care of business at Havas. Also on board are Toby Tobin, who will look after sales, and Sam Levene, who becomes Head of Production in London. Ian Pons Jewell is unsurprisingly cock-a-hoop to finally announce ProdCo and even reveals the cryptic thinking behind the company's understated name: "The energies, the skill level, the shared vision of our directors and team, it’s magical. A production company isn’t the culture, it's a platform for culture driven by the directors’ work. That's why our name is what it is." The directing talent he's referring to is: Aisultan Seit Alan Masferrer Art Practice Diana Kunst Ian Pons Jewell Jaa Phiratee Jara Moravec Karim Huu Do Lana Senaoui Leigh Powis Mackenzie Sheppard Mau Morgó Nick Roney Onda Rick Darge Thomas Ormonde (USA only) Yukihiro Shoda Zico Judge had this to say: "ProdCo is here to help, support and encourage a positive community of film-making. We are all about the work so we will continue to let the work do the talking." There wasn't anything he could really add after that.

Alexis Gomez sounds like a player DAVID picked for his fantasy football team, only for them to be ruled out for the season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. |

Given the difficulties of making progress in other areas of diversity, it's perhaps not surprising that even lass progress has been made when it comes to ensuring an equal opportunities approach when it comes to disability. |

Children turned into dolls may sound like an idea for a horror movie, but it's how NHS Blood & Transplant (NHSBT) aim to increase the number of child organ donors. |
