SAU ALI HEADS TO GREATCOAT FILMS.
11 July 2022

Newham means a lot to Sau Ali. The director grew up in the borough, so he was the ideal man to direct a film about Baiteze FC—the self-styled "greatest Sunday league team on YouTube" and winners of the 2021-22 FA Sunday Cup.

As well as a heartfelt ode to community football, it's Ali's first ad for Greatcoat Films. He's spent the last months developing his portfolio with the company, and now he's earned a spot on the main roster. So, what does Ali have to say about his journey from Ravensbourne University London to Greatcoat?

"It's great to be joining a place that puts ingenuity first and and promotes creative expansion," Ali says. "This will be a great place for me to create more immersive and disruptive visual stories and be supported by the team whilst doing so. I'm looking forward to the ride."

Sau is the first person we've signed to the roster from our new directors initiative, which is an opportunity for us to find and nurture fresh filmmaking talent.

 ”

Founder Simon Oxley is equally enthused: "Sau is a hugely talented director, who brings enormous amounts of energy, intelligence and enthusiasm to every single job. He's the first person we've signed to the roster from our new directors initiative, and we hope to support many more newcomer directors in their journeys into the industry."
