THE JOY OF SIX FOR PAPAYA FILMS.
21 April 2023

Six, count 'em, six directors have joined Papaya Films in one fell swoop. They are Lua Voigt, Giorgio Bruni, Mauri Chifflét, Julia Rogowska, Lonan García, and Kosta Glusica, each hand-picked by executive producer Wojtek Skiba and his team.

"Our ambition to make the best work we can has meant we are continually on the look out for the next generation of talent," Skiba says. "By looking in emerging, often unexpected places, we hope these new directors show that the best creators are often found where you least expect, proving that with the right support, talent can thrive like you can never imagine."

First up is Lua Voigt, a Brazilian director and nature lover who's "fascinated by the unknown and the extraordinary". Before she steps on the plane, Voigt says: "I'm passionate about capturing authenticity in my work—a love of honest, raw storytelling that I'm excited to bring to London."

The South American connection continues with a Scandinavian twist. Born in Uruguay but raised in Sweden, Mauri Chifflét is a choice pick for clients who value style and craftsmanship: "I always try to create work at the highest quality possible, something I feel Papaya Films has been doing since the very beginning. It's this commitment to the craft that makes me believe we'll be a great match and I can’t wait to get started in London."

Next to arrive is Giorgio Bruni, a DAVID regular thanks with a knack for sports and lifestyle commercials. The Londoner says: "I'm relishing the opportunity to collaborate with a mix of new and old and friends at Papaya, creatively pushing myself to make some really exciting projects."

Julia Rogowska knows all about the Papaya way of life, having won their Young Directors Contest in 2015. The Polish director says: "I've always wondered if I'd make my way back to the incredible team at Papaya. I cannot wait to get stuck in with the London crew, working with their insane talent to take my work to the next level."

She's joined by established director and cinematographer Kosta Glusica, who brings technical and aesthetic flair to his new home. The Serbian says: "London is an incredibly inspiring creative hub with a unique energy. I'm so hyped to be part of it with Papaya and their super talented team."

Last but not least is Lonan García, a Barcelona native who's ready to crack the UK market with gusto: "The creativity of the UK has always intrigued me, somewhere I've always felt as though I could really express and grow my style. I can think of nowhere better than to do that with than Papaya, working with their incredible team to hopefully make the best work of my career."
