Lyon, who is also a renowned photographer, began his directing career in the world of pop promos back in the 2000s, working with bands like Kasabian and Franz Ferdinand, as well as Mark Ronson and Moby. He began making TVCs in 2008, and adapted brilliantly to its challenges, gaining a Cannes Lion in his first year for a VW spot. Lyon is an immensely versatile director, with only his visual flair creating a connection between one project and the next. A recent commercial for Amazon is a showcase for Lyon's skill with a VFX-led visual approach, and his ability to deliver it in a lightly humorous way.
This Land Rover commercial showcases a different kind of visual flair, as Scott Lyon leads three of the advertised cars through a series of landscapes on an epic scale. The perfectly judged grandiosity is perfect for this vehicle's target market, and provides perfect evidence of this director's mastery of the biggest of canvases.
When Scott Lyon was given an opportunity to contribute to the gorgeous canon of work made by W+K for Lurpak, he delivered an absolute beauty. The visuals here are so visceral that they are practically sensations, and it gives the whole film a fairy tale quality that pushed this campaign to another level.
Kate Taylor says of her new acquisition: "Scott is one of the best there is. I have always loved his stylistic, high energy work and unstoppable creativity. What more can I say, it’s a privilege to have Scott on our roster, I couldn’t be happier."
