DARLING @ RSA EMERGES FROM BARE SPLIT.
16 April 2018

Bare Films is no more. But fear not... Darling Films is one of two new entities emerging in its place.

Clare Timms, Kelly Doyle and Kat Downs have arrived at their new headquarters within RSA, bringing with them some of the directors from the Bare roster... and a whole load of ambition.

A few days ago, Kat Downs paused for breath long enough to speak to DAVID about the trio's excitement about the new venture and to describe how it will be an autonomous part of RSA.

Kat started off by revealing how the first round of publicity had generated a tremendous amount of interest and how this had helped them as they got used to life at RSA: "there have been so many messages of support and we're already shooting our first job".

Their new hosts had, in any case, made them extremely welcome and had thrown a party to celebrate their arrival.

It was very important for them to know they were being looked after by us.

 ”

She confirmed that Bare had been "riding high" when they made the decision to disband the company, and this is one of the reasons why everyone at Darling is feeling so buoyant about the new venture. Being able to draw on the "added clout of RSA" and having access to "the extra doors that will open" because they're now part of a global network has helped to further elevate the mood.

Operating as a separate entity within RSA, Darling hope to gain all the benefits of being part of a larger organisation while maintaining an autonomous approach.

They've brought ten directors from the Bare roster to Darling, namely: Adam Gunser, Steve Green, Gus Filgate, Marcus Lundin, Jacob Hopewell, Daniel Borjesson, Cristiana Miranda, Martin Brierley, Pete Salmi, and Betsan Morris Evans. And they're hoping to make some announcements soon about "three or four more signings in the coming weeks or months".

Although the directors were understandably excited to be joining RSA, Kat Downs says: "It was very important for them to know they were being looked after by us, so they're not lost on a big roster."

That's something the Darling team have been keen to emphasise in conversations they've had with directors thinking about joining the new venture, as well as those who migrated with them from Bare.

So why then is the new entity called 'Darling'? "It was Kelly who came up with it... Clare Timms tends to call everybody 'darling' and she does it such an affectionate way that it seemed perfect. Plus it means we get to answer the phones: 'hello, darling!'"
