DIRECTORS OF PHOTOGRAPHY Are you one of the best twenty-five cinematographers working in advertising? You are? Then you should be on this list.
Seasoned filmmaker Justin Stokes is now on the books at The Visionaries. A former editor and camera operator, Stokes directs commercials, short films, and documentary features like 'Missile from the East', which premiered on Sky in 2021.
'Missile from the East' tells the story of Ernst Degner, a motorcycle racer who fled East Germany at the height of the Cold War. Part sports documentary, part political thriller, Stokes treats the subject matter with the reverence it deserves, and it will be interesting to see what he sinks his teeth into next.
Whatever he does next, Stokes is pleased to have Corin West and his team on speed dial: "I'm really excited to be joining The Visionaries, as to me they are one of the most exciting agents out there representing some of the best directors. I can't wait to get out there and make great work with great ad agencies."
Keep your eyes peeled for Stokes's next commercial. We also recommend a look at 'Method Actor', a 2011 short film with the late John Shrapnel as a troubled thespian haunted by his previous roles. Perhaps this is why Daniel Day-Lewis retired when he did.
