JAMES MARSH JOINS PULSE FILMS
22 January 2018

Pulse Films have signed Academy Award winning director James Marsh to their roster for global representation.

A celebrated and critically acclaimed writer and director, Marsh works in a number of mediums including commercials, TV shows, and feature films.

After working in the industry for many years - building a relationship with the BBC and earning a reputation for his documentary work in the process - it was Marsh's remarkable 2008 film 'Man on Wire' which earned him a slew of awards and put his talents on a global stage.

Part archive footage, part modern interviews with those involved, the documentary feels like a heist movie as it recounts Philippe Petit's 1974 high-wire walk between the Twin Towers of New York's World Trade Center.

Pulse is the ideal company for me. Their diverse interests and belief in the power of the visual image reflect my own identity as a filmmaker.

 ”

Commercially, Marsh has worked on many high profile campaigns for a diverse range of global brands including Audi and Coca Cola.

His memorable campaigns for BBC Radio 3 and 4 demonstrate his nuanced approach, stripping the visual excitement back so that sound takes centre stage. It's a tricky balancing act - one Marsh pulls off with aplomb as his minimalist visuals enhance the power of the spoken word.

In recent years, Marsh has directed some of the most compelling pieces of television and feature film around... and reaped the resulting rewards.

Marsh's work on the compelling HBO limited series 'The Night of' saw him nominated for an Emmy, while his biopic of Stephen Hawking - 'The Theory of Everything' - was a box office smash which went on to win the BAFTA for best British film and three Golden Globes.

Marsh has no plans to slow down his prolific output, with his latest feature film 'The Mercy' set to be released in February 2018. He is also currently in post production on 'The King of Thieves' - a film inspired by the real-life vault robbery in London undertaken by a gang of geriatric criminals.

Pulse are certainly happy to have such a creative powerhouse on board. Davud Karbassioun, Global President of Commercials and Branded, said of the signing: "I've been a big fan of James' work over the years. He has a uniquely versatile and considered approach to storytelling across multiple formats. He blurs the lines between fact, fiction and feeling. Pulse Films are so proud to be in his corner."

James Marsh's reel is now up at Pulse Films, so head on over and take a look at some more of his work. For more information on him or anyone else on the roster, get in touch with Can Salahi at can.salahi@pulsefilms.co.uk or give them a ring at 0207 426 5700.
