WILL SAMUEL JOINS 1STAVEMACHINE

1stAveMachine have added award winning animation director Will Samuel to their roster. London-based Samuel studied at the Chelsea College of Art and Design before beginning his career in film, so it's no surprise he's developed a design-driven approach to animation. His distinctive visuals ensure his work stands out from the crowd.

Having worked initially as a graphic designer, Samuel's thoughtful, sophisticated animation style has been widely recognised within the industry, and his work for the BBC earned him a D&AD pencil.

The pastel-toned film explaining DNA evokes memories of science textbooks as the images flow from one scene to the next.

Samuel's clean, graphic style and penchant for narrative also translates well into music promo work.

I look forward to pushing boundaries and going slightly bonkers with them.

 ”

His film to accompany Simian Mobile Disco's 'Cerulean' evokes a similar nostalgia to his work for the BBC, this time drawing on 1970s video game graphics and uses a limited colour palette to create something which feels simultaneously retro and futuristic.

Most recently, Samuel teamed up with with Aaron Duffy and Special Guest to create a stark, text-based ad for Google and Jigsaw.

The film addresses the phenomenon of 'fake news' and emphasises the need to protect the distribution of verified information.

Samuel is looking forward to getting settled in at his new home - he's already been snapped up to work on an intriguing new project which we'll bring you in due course.

He said of the signing: "I am super excited to be part of the 1stAve team. If past projects are anything to go by, I know we'll work great together. Officially joining feels like the natural next step for me. I look forward to pushing boundaries and going slightly bonkers with them."

Will Samuel's work is now live at 1stAveMachine, so head on over and take a look. For more information on him or anyone else on their roster, get in touch with Otis Bell at otis@obmanagement.co.uk or give the team a ring on 020 3206 6450.
