TWO THROUGH THE DOOR AT JELLY LONDON.
25 July 2018

Jelly London are pleased to announce the arrivals of French director and animator Geoffroy de Crécy and Swedish illustrator Alva Skog.

The double signing reflects Jelly's desire for both youth and experience in their ranks: while de Crécy slots into Jelly's main animation roster, Skog will hone her craft in the company's ‘Futures' wing.

Let's see what Jelly's new recruits are all about…

1. Geoffroy de Crécy

Jelly's latest animator feels like he's going around in circles in the best possible way; that's because Geoffroy de Crécy specialises in looped animation and GIFs. While de Crécy remains an avid illustrator, he's compelled to get things moving (so to speak).

Looping is the perfect midpoint between illustration and narrative animation.

 ”

De Crécy says: "When I work on a nice still picture, I can't help but animate it. Looping is the perfect midpoint between illustration and narrative animation."

Sure enough, de Crécy's reel is full of aesthetically-pleasing riffs on both human and mechanical behaviour. Whether it's branded or personal work, the Frenchman strives to achieve something new and unexpected each time.

2. Alva Skog

Recent Central Saint Martins graduate Alva Skog already has a firm idea of what her craft can achieve as she joins Jelly's 'Futures' roster. Confident that the pen is indeed mightier than the sword, the Swede believes illustration and graphic design can "express my ideas... whilst highlighting issues in society."

My wish is to criticise body ideals... and and to celebrate differences since differences are great.

 ”

Skog is particularly interested in matters of female representation and gender stereotypes. Eschewing stick-thin bodies for bold curves and expressive colours, Skog aims to inspire change with every pen and brushstroke.

As Skog settles into Jelly HQ, she adds: "My wish is to criticise body ideals and demands of conforming to bodily perfection and to celebrate differences, since differences are great and As It Is."
