THREE NEW SIGNINGS AT HUNKYDORY.
20 November 2018

HunkyDory have bolstered their commercial offering by signing directors Victoria Pile, J J Adler, and Sune Sørensen.

Keen to end 2018 on a high, the company's mini-signing spree has produced three distinct additions to the roster: television comedy maestro Pile; satirical filmmaker Adler; and Danish talent Sørensen.

Read on for more on each HunkyDory newcomer…

1. Victoria Pile

Victoria Pile once said: "It's a hard bloody job to make comedy." Fortunately, the creator of Channel 4 favourites Green Wing and Smack the Pony can draw upon years of writing and directing experience.

As well as her enviable television credits, Pile's commercial reel has also gathered plenty of admirers. Her track record in droll campaigns has kept Pile in demand, and HunkyDory aim to share her talent with yet more brands going forward.

2. J J Adler

Those familiar with satirical news outlet The Onion will appreciate JJ Adler's strain of humour. After all, she was head director of The Onion News Network - a web-based spoof of infinite news cycles which eventually transferred to the small screen.

Since then, Adler herself has shifted to the commercial realm, applying her well-calibrated humour to numerous branded projects. For instance, Adler's 2016 piece for Girls Who Code demonstrates her knack for satire whilst questioning gender prejudice in the tech industry.

3. Sune Sørensen

Director and all-round film buff Sune Sørensen wrote his first screenplay aged thirteen, and the Dane hasn't looked back. Over the years Sørensen has shot TVCs, short films, and even established his own production company in Copenhagen - enough to satisfy any hard-working director.

However, Sørensen now wishes to add UK commercials to his bow, and that's where HunkyDory come in. John Doris and co. believe Sørensen's craft and storytelling nous will attract plenty of interest, leading with this evocative short film for Volkswagen.
