1. MailChimp - KaleLimp
We can imagine vegans will be deeply conflicted by this bizarre ad for email marketing company MailChimp. Now we know where kale really comes from.
These upmarket diners order something called "KaleLimp". We're then transported to a swimming pool with some rather unusual patrons: dogs made of kale. Well, we are always told to wash vegetables before consumption.
2. Financial Conduct Authority - Do It Now!
This film from M&C Saatchi had us scratching our heads a bit... but not in a fashion which means it is unsuccessful because puzzlement is - we suspect - part of their devious plan.
A crude animatronic of Arnold Schwarzenegger's head is deployed to remind the audience that there's an expiry date on PPI claims and that we need to act soon if we're not to miss out.
3. Skittles - Mother and Son
Fans of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia will never look at Mrs McDonald the same way again after watching this freakish Skittles ad. Mum and her distinctive-looking son like nothing more than eating multi-coloured sweets together. Nothing wrong with that, eh?
The brand enjoy pushing viewers' buttons, but this is on another level. It's enough to make Norman Bates shudder.
4. Gonzo - Saves From Hunger
This curious Ukranian ad proves that cats are universally dicks, no matter how big they are. When danger strikes, a hooded hero parkours his way across town to save an innocent civilian from... hunger, as it turns out.
Once he's fed the bloke some crisps, the feline warrior saunters off to let the guy fend for himself against a pair of thugs. Bizarre, but extremely watchable.
5. Halo Top - Robots
We round off with this genuinely unnerving ad for diet ice cream brand Halo Top.
An elderly woman is force-fed ice cream by a calm but malevolent robot. The situation becomes increasingly fraught as she pushes back against the clinical insistence of her automaton carers and its comedy is very dark indeed.
Watching it for the first time and unsure where it was going, DAVID felt sure of only one thing: it absolutely could not be a commercial for ice cream. Maybe a trail for a new series of 'Black Mirror' but absolutely not an ad for ice cream. But we were wrong.
