FRANCESCO CALABRESE FOR CADENCE FILMS
27 September 2017

US-based Italian director Francesco Calabrese - who has forged a considerable reputation for creating highly engaging content with a visually stunning core - has joined the roster at Cadence Films.

And as he's already directed a highly-praised global campaign for his new production company, it's little wonder they describe themselves as "delighted" to have secured his services.

To explain a little more: Calabrese has directed a series of films for yogawear specialists lululemon who - having established themselves as the go-to retailer for female enthusiasts - decided it was time for men to buy some of their clobber.

As you can see in this film featuring Ibn Ali Miller - a prominent community leader known for his advocacy of a non-violent approach to protesting social injustice, Calabrese has perfectly addressed the campaign's aim of representing men who "have the strength to be themselves".

He's a director with a brilliant eye both photographically and editorially, a trait demonstrated by this superb short documentary about a pole dancer. It's a film which achieves the rare feat of making you see something culturally familiar from an entirely different perspective.

Little wonder that Cadence's Lorenzo Ragionieri is so pleased with his new acquisition: "We've been drawn to Francesco's work for some time. His knack for combining a sharp eye for lighting and mood with a superb sense of sequence and narrative construction make him a natural fit with the rest of the roster."

His unnerving short film 'The Shift' from 2014 is a terrific showcase for his ability to draw dramatic performances and conjure a different era. The production design works beautifully with his cinematography to recreate picket fence 1950s America.

To see more of Calabrese's work, check out his work at Cadence's website.

Cadence are represented in the UK by Agent Elson and if you want more information on Francesco Calabrese or anyone on Cadence's impressive roster, then call her on 07970 943464 or reach her via email using kate@agentelson.com.
