JACOB HOPEWELL JOINS BARE FILMS
23 February 2018

Bare Films have signed up and coming talent Jacob Hopewell to their roster for commercial representation.

A rising star in the film world, Hopewell cut his teeth assisting some of the most respected names in the business - including Dougal Wilson, Tom Tagholm, and Simon Willows.

One he moved on to directing, Hopewell honed his craft and began shooting for commercial campaigns for the BBC and Western Union.

He has a stylish, documentary-based approach and his film for BBC Radio 1's 'Big Weekend' stop in Hull shows off his skills to great effect, as he makes an event full of sweaty teenagers stumbling around a field look like a halcyon summer to remember.

In another highly successful campaign for the BBC, Hopewell created content for Radio 1 and 1Xtra's 'One Million Hours' initiative - a year-long series encouraging their young listeners to pledge a million hours of time to good causes.

From the moment we saw his work we knew he was a real talent, from beautifully crafted documentaries to visual storytelling and narrative.

His poignant film starring Barbara - in conjunction with Age UK - shines a light on the increasing problem of loneliness in the elderly. The immersive film takes us into Barbara's world, suddenly silent after she lost her husband and daughter in quick succession, and is immensely effective in allowing us to see what a difference the charity's 'befrienders' made at a critical moment.

On the narrative end of the spectrum, Hopewell's work for Western Union demonstrates his ability to combine vibrant imagery to create a compelling visual story.

With a voiceover encouraging the viewer to get out and experience life to its fullest, Hopewell's visuals ensure increasing your get-up and go looks like an appealing prospect.

Bare's Joint MD Clare Timms is excited to welcome Hopewell to the team - and to their upcoming new director showcase in March.

Timms said of the signing: "We are delighted to be launching Jacob. From the moment we saw his work we knew he was a real talent, from beautifully crafted documentaries to visual storytelling and narrative. He's incredibly smart and hard working, and we are super chuffed that he's part of the new director showcase at Shoreditch House."

Jacob Hopewell's reel is available at Bare, so head on over and take a gander. For more information on him or anyone else on the roster, get in touch with Kat Downs at kat@barefilms.co.uk or give the team a ring on 0207 758 4170.
