In her native Sweden, Nordahl is known for directing the eight-episode documentary series, 'One Wish', along with earning a double Swedish Grammy nomination for her short film collaboration with pop act Say Lou Lou.
Music plays a prominent role in Nordahl's work, as she explores themes of time, memory, and nostalgia. Her dreamy visuals transport the viewer somewhere beyond the norm, and often have the quality of a sun-soaked memory of the distant past.
Most recently, Nordahl's work for the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education (RFSU) received widespread attention after it went viral online.
#dearcondom takes an honest look at safe sex, and the discomfort some Scandinavians feel at talking about it. The film features many tenets of Nordahl's distinctive style - offering an edgy, racy take on the subject matter which feels more like a glossy music promo than a PSA.
Nordahl is certainly excited to get to work at her new home, saying: "I'm thrilled and honoured to be joining Pulse Films, which has such an experienced team who have shown there's a way of working successfully across the different film making platforms and produced some truly inspirational work. I can't wait for this new chapter to begin."
James Sorton, MD of Commercials and Music Videos at Pulse Films, adds: "Joanna is a fearless director with great taste and an incredibly energy. She has a unique way with on-screen talent that enables her to get incredibly intimate, raw and often provocative performances. As a studio we always want to embrace multi-disciplinary talent, and Joanna exemplifies that philosophy."
