1. Eloise King
Emerging filmmaker Eloise King has plenty of experience as a director and executive producer - she recently served as global executive producer at VICE, overseeing the nextwork's digital channels in the UK, and i-D globally. King uses her skill behind the camera to give a voice to the marginalised, bringing minority stories into the spotlight and giving people a platform to be heard. Her work on the 'Gurls Talk' web series, for instance, aims to break down taboos around the female experience and encourage women to share their stories without shame.
2. Sophie Muller
Sophie Muller is a Grammy award winning director with a star-studded reel of music promos dating back to the 90s. From Kylie Minogue to Rihanna, Muller's work has captured the musical zeitgeist of a decade time and again. After working extensively in the US, Muller intends to focus on music promos, commercials, and stills during her time in the UK. Despite having been described as 'most successful female music video director of all time', Muller has never shot a TVC on this side of the pond - something PrettyBird intend to rectify.
3. Yoni Lappin
London based director Yoni Lappin marries his love of both still and moving images with his edgy film work. Primarily concerned with exploring youth culture in all its complexity, Lappin has collaborated on music promos with cutting edge performers including Mura Masa and A$AP Rocky. Lappin has a talent for mixing together multiple formats in his films to create unique visual effects, which has translated beautifully to the world of commercials. With a knack for engaging storytelling and over fifty million online views under his belt, he's certainly one to watch.
PrettyBird's UK Founding Partner and Executive Producer Juliette Larthe said of the signings: "Sophie has staged more cultural shifts than most of us have had hot dinners. It's going to be fun getting her work to across platforms, cross-pollinating between art, video and advertising. "Yoni has an incredible eye and I see him doing some amazing work with us. Eloise has the best brain I have come across in many years, her big picture creative and resource, storytelling capabilities and knowledge of the industry belies her years, and I'm honoured to be working with her. The trio are influential and excellent, and creating important work characterised by both traditional and non traditional mediums."
