YOUTH HYMNS JOIN DIRTY FILMS.
5 June 2018

Dirty Films have added directors-stroke-music producers Youth Hymns to their roster.

Comprised of Jake, Johnny, and Jolyon, the trio have a carved a niche for themselves with trippy visuals and adventurous shooting methods which give their work a distinctive flare. Naturally, this formula has produced an eye-catching reel - one that Dirty Films are keen to grow.

What can you tell us about their first shoot? It was almost their last. Working with four half-working camcorders, a dying projector, a pair of torches, and a £100 budget almost pushed them over the edge. Fortunately, Youth Hymns stuck it out and have been crafting TVCs, short films, and promos ever since.

Such as? How about this hallucinatory video for Slaves' ‘Feed the Mantaray', which sees faux-punk rockers Isaac Holman and Laurie Vincent embark on an underwater joyride while the titular manta ray bobs along in pursuit. Lo-fi prop work and acid-drenched visuals sell the track's deranged spin on marine conservation.

Barmy. What have Youth Hymns been up to recently? As the trio's skills and ambition grew, so did the resources available to them - which is reflected in their VFX-heavy outing for Nowness, ‘Facefixx'. Four human guinea pigs push the body modification app to the limit with grotesque results, with Youth Hymns accentuating each freakish transformation.

So what do Dirty Films have planned? The Shoreditch company think their latest addition has plenty to offer in 2018 and beyond. Founders Alex Bedford and Ben Parkin are already sounding out potential collaborations, so stay tuned for Youth Hymns's Dirty debut.

In the meantime, check out Youth Hymns's reel over at the Dirty Films website, then speak to Alex Bedford on 020 7739 6111 or email him via alex@dirtyfilms.uk.
