BOHDAN ROHULSKYI: FROM ODESA TO ODELAY. |
|
12 October 2022 |
|
Ukrainian director Bohdan Rohulskyi is determined to make his hometown proud as he joins Odelay Films for representation. Rohulskyi left war-torn Odesa for London earlier this year, teaching himself English as he sought new creative partnerships. |
He soon met paper quilling artist Yulia Brodskaya, whose recent project, Phoenix, is inspired by Rohulskyi's creativity and resilience. When Odelay Films spotted his work on Instagram, Prudence Beecroft made this "daring, playful, and innovative" talent her top priority.
"We were immediately drawn to his bright colour palette, styling, and creative flair," Beecroft says. "The way the camera moves around, through, and into the environment feels fresh and dynamic—there is never a dull moment in his work!" |
“ |
Odelay Films are the kind people I want to walk hand in hand with. |
” |
|
Odelay's managing director adds: "Bohdan comes with bags of ideas and inspiration for creative projects, and we are excited to build his commercial body of work with UK brands." It helps that Rohulskyi has taken to London like a Ukranian duck to water.
"You can be whoever you want, love whatever you want and wear whatever you want," Rohulskyi says. "To be able to express myself has made me feel truly free, plus the people around me amaze me every day. I have always loved discovering new cultural experiences and London never ceases to surprise me". Once he met Odelay Films in Soho, he knew where his future, well, lay: "What first attracted me to Odelay was the people. I look for real human connections. I realised that Odelay Films is not only a team of professionals, but they're people with a similar outlook on life—just the kind people I want to walk hand in hand with."
