WILL CHILD JOINS BLINKINK

Director and artist Will Child is the latest member of the Blinkink family. Will left his job as a graphic designer to pursue a career in clay sculpting, graphic design and art department work. A risk that has clearly paid off as he is currently taking stop motion by storm.

In 2020, Will set up his own animation company, Gravy Mercedes, and has been able to combine his love of craft with his love of hip hop. He has used claymation to create an extensive list of music videos for artists such as Drake, Trippie Redd and FKA Twigs. He has also successfully dipped his toes into the advertising world with commercials for the likes of Old Spice, Reebok and BT Sport.

Evidently, Will is looking forward to getting started at Blink : “I’ve hugely admired Blink from afar since working in the art departments on a couple of commercials a good few years ago, so I’m mega proud to now be joining the amazing roster here. I feel like we have very similar ideas as to the kinds of things we want to make and the tone of voice they’re delivered in, and I can’t wait to collaborate with the amazing production and creative talent at Blink and up the levels on my own craft again.”


Will's signature style nods to stop motion founding father, Ray Harryhausen and pairs this with intricate handmade production design and action packed storytelling.

He uses claymation for humorous effect in this Old Spice commercial that shows an eagle going to extraordinary lengths to dispose of a man's hat. Why? Because hair is awesome, of course.


Will goes all out in this graphic and certainly not for the faint hearted music promo. It's a great example of how claymation can be used to explore dark themes and bring them to life.

The promo has been well received and hugely successful with over 33 million views on Youtube alone.
