The Visionaries have added discerning director Freddie Leyden to their ranks for representation.
The filmmaker joins the team on a freelance basis, bringing his strong artistic visuals and love of history to the table. His work is innately connected to art of the past, often toying with classical concepts and disrupting an existing tradition with fresh ideas.
He cut his teeth creating films for major museums (such as the Tate and National Portrait Gallery), exploring artists and their work in new and exciting ways. It's a unique perspective which has led to a swell of interest from both the artistic and commercial worlds, with polished visuals and a fluid creative approach making him a popular choice for brands which favour a refined take on their image.
Recent work featuring fashion designer Gareth Pugh offers a great example of the visual and narrative nuance Leyden brings to the table. Episode one of a series called 'Throughlines', devised and directed by Freddie in collaboration with Christie's and featured on Nowness, the film situates Pugh's work as being inspired by the past yet also informed by the future. Reinterpretation is very much Leyden's business, so we'll be interested to see what he produces with The Visionaries.
