"Melisa"

11 February 2026

2 mins 03s

The Spanish intermission.

ELF (short for Eyes Lips Face) must have liked Melissa McCarthy's style when she appeared in Super Bowl commercials for Kia and Booking.com. Whereas Owen Wilson wanted to learn Spanish in time for the 2026 World Cup, McCarthy wants to learn it in time for Bad Bunny's Super Bowl half-time show.

Directed by Tim Heidecker, 'Melisa' sees the actor cared for by Dr Tito (Nicholas Gonzalez) after a car crash. When he realises how iffy her Spanish is, he prescribes her Glow Reviver Lip Oil. If she's to appreciate any of Bad Bunny's lyrics in time, she must absorb every word, syllable, and trilled 'r' that comes out of the good doctor's mouth.

Not only is it a ton of bilingual fun (it gets even better when telenovela veteran Itatí Cantoral loses her shit), but it also encourages viewers to embrace a whole new kind of Super Bowl half-time show. The advertised brand wants Americans to be like McCarthy: eager to learn, not lambast others. That is beauty ELF wishes it could bottle like lip oil.
