Letting go.

In this immensely sweet commercial for Singaporean bank UOB, a mother intuits that her grown-up son has some news when he returns home for a short stay. Director Andrew Lang successfully reveals to us that the protagonist is torn between excitement for the coming adventure and sadness at leaving his loving family behind, especially his doting mother.

The ease with which Lang establishes this dynamic in a short space of time is impressive and hugely enhances the sentimentality when mum decides that she can best support her son by letting him know that her desire to see him make his own way through life marginally eclipses her desire to keep him close.
