"Get That Electric Feeling"

26 March 2026

Message received.

This might not be the deepest or flashiest Toyota ad of all time, but it goes about its business with confidence. Scored by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five (excuse DAVID while 'The Message' takes him back to 'Grand Theft Auto: Vice City'), the ad pivots on the All-Electric Urban Cruiser and how it makes drivers and passengers alike feel.

Once the owner's checked how much charge her SUV has, she spins her phone in the palm of her hand like a street-level superstar—we like to think most people who try that in real life end up with a smashed screen or a phone lost down a drain. A no-look fist bump and seat adjustment with attitude later, the woman and her two friends are ready to hit the road.

Director Tim McNaughton works hard to get that "electric feeling" across with a light touch and playful visuals. The effort pays off when, for example, the camera cuts away from the cast for a moment—when it comes back, all three have sunglasses on. The result is a spot that doesn't take itself too seriously, but benefits from people who know what they're doing.
