She Knows Too Much (ft. Mac Miller)

This Léa Esmaili-directed promo is madder than a bag of cats… or should that be madder than a bag of Thundercats? To promote 'She Knows Too Much', the mixed-media maestro puts Thundercat and the late Mac Miller through a feel-good wringer that dares the audience to keep up. It's worth it if they do.

Esmaili and her merry band of collaborators—Joshua Clauss, Louise Bailly, Thomas Bertrand, Turçin Soylu, Lola Lefèvre, Tom Jeanbourquin, and Valentin Gaubert—throw all sorts of aesthetics and reality bends at viewers, with Thundercat and Miller (a great name for a buddy cup duo) at the zany heart of it. When both get chucked by their girlfriends at the same time, where else is there to go except the animated multiverse?

Even as Esmaili and company crank up the mixed-media chaos (one standout sequence in a bowling alley evokes 'The Big Lebowski' and 'Tom and Jerry'), the promo at its core is a road trip shared by friends who parted ways too soon. Eight years after Miller's untimely death, he's still happy to ride shotgun with Thundercat.
