The latest instalment in this winning series for The Polaroid Foundation introduces us to the extraordinary Ghanaian artist Ibrahim Mahama, who has created an exhibition space in the north of his country. He receives a visit from John Reuter and Harriet Browse and, once it has cleared customs, the largest instant camera in the world. In the meantime, directors Alex Mariashian and Tobias Perse provide a breezy introduction to Mahama and this ambitious project. The artist is joined by acclaimed photographer James Barnor who documented his country's transformation from its previous incarnation as a British colony called Gold Coast into the thriving, if chaotic, West African country of today. The charm of Mariashian and Perse's documentary style enables the charisma of all four of their subjects to come to the fore and the resulting film is both relaxing and compelling, a rare combination.
